To enhance
relations, particularly in the technical cooperation
area with developing countries, the Government of India
started in 1964 a Program of Technical and Economical
Cooperation called ITEC.
The main goal of this program and those
created for certain regions in the world like SCAAP
in Africa, is to share the Indian experience in diverse
areas, basically in the industrial and technological
field.
India has developed significant progress
in many fields and today has ability and appropriate
advance technologies for the geographical and ecological
conditions of many developing countries.

Details of Scholarships
As with other developing countries,
ITEC cooperate with Peru and Bolivia also through this
scholarship program with technical training courses
of short period, normally less than 12 weeks.
The Government of India selects these
courses in divers fields and institutions throughout
the country. The list of the courses is normally published
in April and May every year - but during the year more
courses could be added and sent to the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs of Peru and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
and Worship of Bolivia.
ITEC Scholarships cover:

Course expenses;
-
Return air ticket to India
-
Lodging expenses in India;
-
A small amount of money for food.
However, it is recommended to carry additional money
-
Refund of Medical expenses (in
case of diseases contracted in India);
-
A small amount of money for books.
-
Tax payments are not included,
neither Peruvian Taxes (IGV and IPM) nor Bolivian
Taxes (IVA).

However, in the case of Peru,
there is an agreement of refund of tax payments
after applicant's return to Peru;
-
The government of India is not
responsible for expenses incurred on short stay
for connecting flights, etc.;
-
Visa is free of charge.
