AYURVEDA AND YOGA IN PERU
The Embassy of India in collaboration with Ministry of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy) of the Government of India and EsSalud, Peru’s Social Security Organization, is endeavouring for capacity building of Health professionals in the area of alternate healthcare systems such as Ayurveda and Yoga.
With this objective, the Embassy organized a series of workshops in Lima, Trujillo and Arequipa in November 2016. Two workshops with the themes “Ayurveda and Self-Care: Food as Medicine” and “Fundamentals of Ayurveda: Common Medicinal plants used in Natural Products” were conducted in Lima for interested persons to increase awareness of benefits of Ayurveda and Yoga and applicability of these systems in Peru.
Workshops on Orientation Training of Ayurveda and Yoga: Scope for Integration in Cancer and Palliative Care were conducted in Trujillo for Medical and Allied Health Professionals of EsSalud, Ministry of Health and National University of Trujillo and in Arequipa for Medical and Allied Health Professionals from EsSalud. These workshops were jointly conducted by Dr. Pankaj Wanjarkhedkar (a visiting scholar in Ayurveda from India) and Dr. Aayam Gupta (Yoga expert and Director of Centro Cultural India at the Embassy). The event was organised with the support of Himalaya Drugs, Megawecare Pty Ltd, LimaYoga, INCHAM, AAPI and Restaurante India.
In February 2017, yet another an intensive workshop on Yoga is being organised in collaboration with EsSalud, Trujillo.
