Workshop on Natural Remedies by International Expert
Both India and Peru share many similarities, both being ancient civilization. One such common interest and knowledge is related to use of medicinal plants and natural remedies. Conscious of this dimension, the Embassy of India in Lima is working on the extension in Peru of the knowledge of Ayurveda, the ancient Indian nature based knowledge system about healing and wellbeing, by undertaking capacity building of Health Professionals and those interested in natural remedies. With this objective, the Indian Cultural Centre, Lima is organizing the first ever Training Workshop in Ayurveda for Health Professionals and Interested Persons from the general public in association with Vedika Institute and EsSalud and with the support of Himalaya Drugs, INCHAM and Asociacion de Amistad Peruana India (AAPI). Noteworthy is the participation of 25 medical professionals from EsSalud, Peru’s Social Security Health System.
The 5-day intensive Ayurveda Training Workshop for Health Professionals and Interested Persons from the general public (40 hours duration) will be held in the premises of Vedika institute, Miraflores from September 23-27 (both days inclusive). Dr. Shekhar Annambhotla, who has a post graduate degree in Ayurveda Medicine (MD) from the prestigious ‘Institute for Post Graduate Teaching and Research in Ayurveda’, Gujarat Ayurveda University, Jamnagar, will conduct the workshop. Gujarat Ayurveda University is a WHO collaborating Centre for traditional Medicine. Dr. Annambhotla has been practicing and teaching Ayurveda internationally since 1991.
The Workshop covers fundamentals of Ayurveda; digestion and nutrition; common spices in kitchen and their medicinal use; pulse diagnosis; tongue and nail analysis; pathogenesis of disease; marma therapy; women’s health; men’s health; children’s health; purification techniques (pancha karma); home based natural detoxification therapies and rejuvenation therapies.
The opening ceremony would be held on September 23 at 8.45-9.15 am with gracious presence of the representatives of EsSalud Dr. Caroline Chang, Chief of International Cooperation, Dr. Milagros Sánchez, Central Manager of Health Benefits and Dr. Martha Villar, Director of Complementary Medicine as Guest of Honor; Franco Kisic of IK Restaurant, the Ambassador of India to Peru and Bolivia and other special invitees.
