Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Memorial Essay Competition
To celebrate the 125th Birth Anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the father of the Indian Constitution, the Embassy of India in Lima in association with the Centre for Oriental Studies, Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (Pontific Catholic University of Peru) and Red Peruana de Universidades (Peruvian Network of Universities) had organised a nation-wide essay completion.
An eminent jury comprising of Estrella Guerra Caminiti, Chief of Red Peruana de Universidades, Ricardo Silva Santiesteban, President of Academia Peruana de la Lengua and Ricardo Sumalavia, Joint Director of the Centro de Estudios Orientales judged the essays. A prize distribution ceremony for the winners of this competition was held on October 17, 2016 at the Centro Cultural of the Embassy of India, Lima.
On the occasion Amb Sandeep Chakravorty spoke about the role of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in formation of modern India. Dr. Jose Leon Herrera, Director of Centre of Oriental Studies referred to the cultural and civilizational commonalities between India and Peru and how Indian culture is so well received in Peru. Estrella Guerra of Red Peruana de Universidades spoke of the need to increase academic and educational contacts between Peru and India.
