First Meeting of India-Peru Joint Commission to provide impetus to bilateral relations


In October 2013, India and Peru signed a Memorandum of Understanding on establishment of a Joint Commission as in intergovernmental consultation mechanism to promote, strengthen and diversify bilateral relations between the two countries.  The first meeting of the Joint Commission will be held on June 21, 2017 in Lima.


The Indian delegation is led by Ms. Preeti Saran, Secretary (East), Ministry of External Affiars and will comprise of senior officials of the Government of India.  The Peruvian delegation is led by Mr. Nestor Popolizio, Vice Minister in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru. In the meeting, in addition to undertaking a comprehensive review of bilateral, regional and multilateral issues, both sides will also discuss future plans for further deepening of the relations.


During the Joint Commission meeting, Framework Agreement on International Solar Alliance, Agreement on New & Renewable Energy and an Access Agreement to Traditional Knowledge Digital Library are expected to be signed.
