International Yoga Day 2017 celebrated in Bolivia

 

International Day of Yoga 2017 was celebrated in Bolivia on June 18, 2017 in the cities of La Paz, Cochabamba and at the iconic Lake Titicaca (in the ancient town of Taraco), which is considered the cradle of the Bolivian civilization.

 

In the capital, La Paz, a Yoga Festival was organised which was inaugurated by Head of Chancery Mr. Arup Kumar Saha with performance of sequences from the Common Yoga Protocol. The practices continued throughout the day. Other cultural activities also formed part of the Festival.

 

          

 

            Simultaneous celebrations took place in Cochabamba where more than 100 people participated.

 

           

 

In the town of Taraco at an altitude of 3900 meters, on the Lake Titicaca, the International Yoga Day was celebrated with the participation of around 300 people including the ethnic tribes of Aymara and others. The programme started with the traditional welcome and rituals of the local community in the presence of the Head of Chancery Mr Arup Kumar Saha, Mayor of Taraco, Mr. Juan Quispe, Councilors of the Municipality as well as other community leaders.  This was followed by demonstration and practice of yoga by experts who had travelled from La Paz. The local community participated enthusiastically in the event.

 

            

 

            International Day of Yoga 2017 will also be celebrated in Santa Cruz, Bolivia on June 21, 2017
