IBSA Fund approves Irrigation Project in Beni, Bolivia

The Board of Directors of the India, Brazil and South Africa Facility for Poverty and Hunger Alleviation (IBSA Fund), during their second meeting of 2017, has approved, among others, an initiative for enhancing food security in Bolivia through the acquisition of machinery and drilling equipment to be managed by livestock associations affected by floods and droughts in the regions of Beni and Pando.

The IBSA funding of approximately US$ 273,000 will help the Federation of Cattle Owners of Beni (FEGABENI) to undertake a project of drilling wells for supply of water in the region, whose main economic activity is cattle farming. The IBSA aims to support developmental activities through South-South cooperation with partner countries. The project was conceived and promoted by the Embassy of India, Lima and FEGABENI.
