Promotion of QCI Yoga Professional Certification Scheme in Peru and Bolivia
As you may be aware, our honourable Prime Minister of India had desired to spread India’s traditional knowledge worldwide with credible systems with specific reference to Yoga which should provide India leadership in assuring quality of Yoga practices across the world. The Ministry of AYUSH in pursuance of the above and in the wake of declaration of International Day of Yoga in 2015 identified the Quality Council of India (QCI) to develop a Voluntary Scheme for Evaluation and Certification of Yoga Professionals.
QCI has designed the Yoga Professional Certification Scheme by adopting the principles and requirements laid down in the international standard, ISO 17024:2012 General Requirements for Bodies Operating Certification of Persons. The Scheme was presented to the Ministry of AYUSH and was launched on 22 June 2015 in the valedictory function of the International Day of Yoga celebration by the Hon’ble Home Minister, Shri Rajnath Singh. Until date approximate 18,500 aspirants have registered, 6000 examined and about 900 Yoga Professionals have been certified.
In addition to this, QCI has also designed a Voluntary Certification Scheme for Yoga Schools by employing the international best practices and adopting/adapting global standards and certification system to ensure internationally acceptable certification. This would ensure homogenous training to anyone interested in yoga as also training of yoga teachers.
In order to promote the Yoga Scheme globally, QCI has been interacting with various organisations globally. It has already entered in a MoU with Japan, and is with talks with other countries such as Malaysia, Poland, Belgium, Russia, Australia etc.
We are happy to inform that on approaching Peru, the Centro Cultural India (CCI), Embassy of India in Lima, Peru, has kindly taken up the responsibility for the promotion of Yoga Scheme. CCI has already been working on promoting AYURVEDA and Yoga in this region of Latin America since 2016.
