Know India Programme


Know India Programme of the Ministry of External Affairs is a three-week orientation programme for diaspora youth conducted with a view to promote awareness on different facets of life in India and the progress made by country in various fields e.g. economic, industrial, science & technology, communication and information technology, culture.  KIP provides a forum for students and young professionals of Indian origin to visit India, share their views, expectations and experiences and to develop closer bonds with the contemporary India.


Regarding 49th to 52nd Know India Programme (KIPs), details of which are available on the KIP Portal (, the Government of India encourages the youth diaspora (18 to 30 years of age) to register on the KIP Portal ( 


The applicants should be OCI/PIO between 18 to 30 years of age, i.e. they should have completed 18 years but not completed 30 years on the 1st day of the month in which the particular Know India Programme is expected to start.  They should be graduates (bachelor degree of a university) or at least enrolled for a graduation course.  They should not have visited India previously under any government funded scheme and preference is given to those who have never visited India.  They should be adequately proficient in English language to be able to interact with the organizers, fellow participants and others.  The application form may be filled completely and properly with applicant´s photograph and signature.  Copies of the relevant pages of the passport and documentary evidence of Persons of Indian Origin (PIO)/Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) status of the applicant and his/her educational qualification should be scanned and attached as a part of the application. The last date for registration on KIP Portal for 49th and 50th Know India Programme (KIPs) is October 15, 2018 and for 51st and 52nd Know India Programme (KIPs) the last date is 15 November, 2018.
