Duplicate passports in lieu of lost / stolen passports

In case of loss of passport in Peru or Bolivia, a duplicate passport is normally issued only if the person is living abroad or plans to visit other countries before returning to India. Otherwise, an Emergency Certificate is issued, which permits the holder to return to India directly.

In case the lost / stolen passport has not been issued by this Embassy, the duplicate passport issued will only be of short validity (1 year), which has to be renewed to the original validity of the lost passport subsequently after receiving clearance from the original Passport Issuing Authority. This can take up to 3 months. Alternatively, for persons on short visits, the duplicate passport can be renewed directly from the original Passport Issuing Authority.
