Renewal of passports

Passports are normally issued for 10 years and upon its expiry, a new passport has to be obtained.

However, in certain cases, a short validity passport is issued which is then renewed to the normal validity. The documents required for such renewal are:

• Miscellaneous Application form [115 kb. *.doc], duly filled in, and signed at two places, including the declaration. Without this, no service can be rendered.
• Present passport.
• In case the passport has expired for more than 6 months, a statement explaining the reasons for the delay in application. In case of further over-expiry, other documentation may be require.
• 2 photographs, one of which to be pasted on page 1 of the form, and signed half on the form and half on the photograph. clic here REQUIREMENTS OF PHOTOGRAPH

In case the passport has not been issued from this Embassy, clearance would be required from the original Passport Issuing Authority. This can take up to 30 days (3 months for duplicate passports). In the interim, the old passport (if still valid) can be returned to the applicant.
