UK’s Youngest Doctor, Dr. Heenal Raichura, honoured.

Dr. Heenal Raichura, MBBS, BSc. who holds the record of being the youngest doctor in UK at the age of 22, was felicitated and presented with the Gullands Excellence Award at a glittering party held at Radisson SAS Portman Hotel in Central London on 27th September 2008 and attended by more than 400 people.

The event was hosted by NRI Institute, an influential non-profit organization with chapters in over 13 countries in association with the Government of India’s Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs.

Since its inception in 1989, NRI Institute has served as a platform to connect Indians and their expatriate counterparts, and organizes various events and awards to recognize expatriate achievements.

The Gullands Excellence Award was presented to fifteen leaders, representing a wide variety of industries and professions from around the globe. The rigorous judging was conducted by previous award winners, business leaders, and prominent social personalities.

Guests of honour invitees at the event included business magnate and peer Lord Swaraj Paul, founder of Cobra beer - Lord Karan Bilimoria, MPs Parmjit Dhanda, Liam Byrne and Keith Vaz, Mr. C B Patel of Gujarat Samachar.

One of the Award winners present was Malkit Singh, the legendary Punjabi Bhangra singer. Other recipients of the Excellence Awards included Lord Mayor Manjula Sood of Leicester, the first Asian female Lord Mayor in the United Kingdom.
